A Message from our President

What an amazing year it’s been for all of us at Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada. We’ve seen unprecedented growth for our organization in terms of reach and impact and we’ve been able to offer expanded programs thanks to our many partners and volunteers. And we’ve striven to differentiate ourselves from other programs out there by delivering a program that is curricula based and meets Nevada State standards and helps to educate and strengthen the future workforce of our community.

Why is this important? It’s important because many of the students in our community do not understand the connection between learning and earning and how to master basic financial principals such as saving, earning and entrepreneurship - concepts that unfortunately are being dropped in the standard classroom due to budget constraints in our school district. Without these skills, our students will enter the workforce unprepared putting not only their financial future in jeopardy but also the future of our entire community at risk.

This year alone, we reached over 19,000 students in classes as young and kindergarten all the way through the senior year of high school. That’s 6,000 more students than last year! We feel that by ensuring that our students have the entire breadth of our program during every school year, they will be prepared to master the ever-changing economy and grow to be future leaders in our community and the world.

We would like to thank all of our partners, sponsors, schools, and volunteers for helping us make the 2010-2011 the best year yet for Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada and are looking forward to continuing our upward trend of increased impact and quality programming for years to come.
